Dead Cows Riding

The other day, while driving home from my meeting, I ended up alongside a livestock transport truck carrying a load of cows.

In between the slats I could see one of them just looking at me, as if she were asking, "Where are they taking me? I'm just a cow who belongs in a field, not in a bumpy metal trailer."

Help me!
I didn't have the heart to tell her the truth.

Awwww. Living in Oklahoma, I see thousands of cows contentedly grazing in their fields. I have no doubt that they live long and happy lives there and then die peacefully in their sleep.

...and these trucks are just bringing them to a big field in Oklahoma?

Yeah, that's it.

You should have told her that she was going to cooking school. :)

What is it about cows that makes us all go "Awwwwww"? Even though we may be headed home to a good steak...

Mooselet, it's those huge brown eyes. You gotta love an animal that is dumber than a box of hammers.

Cows are contagious.

*sings* Everybody loves a cow, so why can't you?

I hate to see that. At the sanctuary where I volunteer, we have three Herefords... so cute, they are. They really don't deserve what we do to them. And they really aren't dumb. They do dumb things, but then again, so do we all. I'm not trying to compare them to humans... I just think they don't really deserve the fate they have coming. And - they have every bit as much personality as your beloved pet does. They're sentient beings.

Alrighty, then. I haven't even said hello, and I'm ranting on your blog. Hi. My name is Anne, and I came here via Schnozz. I feel strongly about this issue. Which... duh.

Anyhow, hi.
