(to me)

Well - I did it...

Today is my one year blog-i-versary!

Miraculously, I have somehow managed to write a full year of this nonsense -
180 posts to be exact, or about 1 every 2 days. But the best part of it is, I have also managed to gather up a whole bunch of new friends in the process. How cool is that?!

sitting in my "Blogspot©"
By "friends," I'm specifically referring to other bloggers who reciprocate with me through comment sharing along with non-bloggers who so kindly comment on a regular basis as well. So I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has stopped by and said "Hi." It's the sole reason I continue to enjoy doing this.

And my little "View From The Cloud" has certainly attracted a lot of visitors over time. For example, in the last year I've had nearly 7,000 visits to my blog by people from over 20 countries for an average of 35 different visitors a day. Here's how my blog has grown over the last year:

Holy cow, that's a lot of people - AND, a 150% increase in readership over the last 8 months alone! The way I figure it, if this rate of growth keeps up - in 6 years I'll be bigger than Oprah. Let's see...

Yep, it's true!

But don't get your hopes up. I won't be giving away any cars.

What I really enjoy about writing this blog the most is the friendly and funny banter we share in the comments. Right now I typically receive a totally sweet 10-15 comments per day, which of course also means that the other half of my visitors are "just looking," which is totally fine with me. I do the same thing on other blogs myself (although I wouldn't hate it if you wanted to drop an anonymous note today that simply said "Hey!" and signed it John Doe or something. You know, just to share some anniversary love :-)

So how am I going to celebrate?

Well, one way is by going "retro" for a few weeks.
No, this doesn't mean I'm going to dress up in my old Livingston Fury stage clothes and start wearing leather pants again. This means that instead of writing new stuff, I thought I would reintroduce some of my favorite posts from the early days of The Cloud.

I wanted to do this because during this time, I wrote most of the stories that inspired me to start this blog in the first place. And also during this time, there was a total of 4 people reading it - all of them from my immediate family.

The way I see it, it would be a shame to have these stories simply lost in history forever, never to be seen again. Because unless you've taken the time to scour my archives (which is highly unlikely) you probably haven't read these posts.

So - starting on Saturday for the next few weeks, I'm going to republish my 10 favorite posts from the early months. You'll be able to recognize them by this medallion on the left. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I've enjoyed writing them. And again, THANK YOU!

It's been a total blast!

Oh, and for you fellow bloggers out there - consider yourself "tagged" (if you want). I'd love to see your "Blogspot
©" too!

I guess I won't be running to the computer every day to see if there's a new blog. AND--since I've read every one of your blogs (2 and 3 times!!) since your very first one, I guess I don't really need to read them again!!!! Just kidding--think you've got a great idea going!!! Can't believe it's a whole year since you started blogging.

When you recycle, can you add spell check? Your mother cannot spell worth anything. I guess I have to quit asking her! I do have an excuse for punctuational errors. We old timers had a machine called a typewriter that had a different keyboard than this, and we were told not to look at it when we typed. Do I sound like a politician?

Happy Anniversary, H'Man!!! I've wondered what the shelf-life is of an average blog and if cracking the 1 year mark is atypical or not. Methinks so, but have no idea.

Oh, and thank you for not putting the leathers back on. We appreciate it.

Hey Bill? If Archie Bunker ran for office, you'd sound JUST like a politician.

And to my friend Jeff..

Thank you for sharing yourself and your family with your readers. To know you is to love you.

My favorite post is and will always be about Goldfish CPR. I think it reveals your heart perfectly.

I'm proud of you. I admire you and I pray that you are blessed beyond belief in this second year of blogging.

Congratulations! You make it look so easy that I've thought about blogging myself, but then you'll have a post about blogs and I'll realize I know NOTHING! Love reading it, though. I think I drive people crazy always telling them about your latest post.

Fun fun fun! Welcome to my party!

Thank you all for the nice wishes and the faithful visits over the last year. It has been a total blast getting to know each and every one of you.

I've heard some people try to claim that blog friendships can't be considered "real" friendships. I think that's crap.

I believe that blogs attract like-minded people to each other. So the idea that we can become "real" friends makes perfect sense to me. Case in point. Jennine is the only "virtual friend" I have met in person, but when we did meet it was like we had been buddies for years. THAT'S what I'm talkin about!

So enjoy the anniversary party, and stay as late as you want. And the best part is, you won't wake up with a hangover tomorrow morning.

Hmmm. I thought I'd already commented, but I guess I was having blogger problems last night and never came back.

Happy BlogAversary Jeff!

I haven't been here since the beginning, but thanks to Betty I found you...and here we were sort of connected already!

I too love the goldfish story, and thought your motorcycle wave tutorial was hilarious.

Hopefully I can get in on one of the BlogAsotas.

"Because unless you've taken the time to scour my archives (which is highly unlikely) you probably haven't read these posts."

I started at the beginning and have read all the posts since the begining....whats that say about me....hmmmm. I am enjoying my taste of life in St Cloud and kudos to Austin and his parents for raisingn a teen who see's what he wants and knows the right way to go about it! Amazing!!! So Happy Anniversary 6 months late, I'll be reading more later to catch up to the present day and enjoying it alot if these past few days of reading are any indication. Keep up the GREAT blogging!
