The Receders Live - Turn It Around

*UPDATE...

I finally figured out how to convert my video. As Ashley said, she wants the lips IN sync next time. The good news is, this video no longer looks like a bad Japanese science fiction movie.

Now I know what I mean by this song. I really DID have to turn this around!

Well then, here is my first ever video of our band The Receders, playing our original material for St. Cloud State's Monday Night Live program on KVSC.

I apparently need a better DVD converter because the audio and video aren't in sync here. It appears I'm going to have to actually spend some money to make this look good. At any rate, I thought it would be fun to share one of the songs we did that night. Once I get the video thing figured out, I'll post the rest of the songs about once a week.

Here I am singing Turn It Around.

Welcome to my world!

Uhh, Do you think it has anything to do with the fact you're still using dial-up? Maybe if you hook the computer up to the generator out in the barn you can get a little more horsepower out of it. ;-)

OOOOOOH, I get it, Jeff! Receders! Now that I've seen ALL of you guys, now I know why you came up with that name! It totally makes sense now. Very clever, by the way. Can't wait til you can get a gig near me in Syracuse. Any chance???

WOW! I'm impressed! I didn't know Alton can sing as well!! ;-)

Deborah's comment is too funny, sorry Jeff!

Dude!!! Love it!! This is the first time I'm going to insist that my husband visit a blog!! You guys ROCK!!

deborah - Yep, it's no secret that's why we're called who we are. Not likely we're going to be touring your neck of the woods anytime soon. Or ever. Those days are long gone for old farts like us.

waya - No apologies necessary. I think our follicly-challenged band is funny too. Regarding Alton... the ironic thing is my first career was as a cook. But the music thing was my real love.

stephanie - Geez, thanks! I'm looking forward to posting some of the other stuff later. I'll finally get the chance to attempt to live up to my moniker of harmonica man!

Randy's sending that to his buddy who got to sing onstage at The Crystal Palace during their business trip to Bakersfield. You'll have another old fart musician reading. Randy also commented on how good the photography was, so we figured Bill didn't do it.

Man, I am so glad you don't suck. I'm really bad at lying to make people feel better. When are you coming to Ripon? ;)

linda - You'll laugh when you see the other clips. The 3 camera people seemed to struggle with keeping up with the band at times. For instance, I'd start a harp solo and they'd zoom in on the bass player. But all in all I think they did a pretty good job.

diesel - I'll give you credit, that was one of the most honest compliments I've heard in a long time. Where the hell is Ripon?

Clapping loudly here in Maine.

You have the cutest dimples.

I want MORE...with the lips IN sync next time.

Thank you for sharing.

I am soooo close to figuring this stupid thing out. I only have to convert it 3 times thru 3 different software packages before I upload it to You Tube for a 1/2 hour. Piece of cake.

I think if I listened to the Receders on my iPod while sitting in the dentist chair I would not even notice that metal scraper thing. You guys make my toes tap involuntarily.

And Bill...you can use my high speed internet anytime.

Oh yeah...

PLAY FREEBIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that was great! This is my first visit here, thanks to what you said at Karl's today! I have seen you at Dave's place too though.

Geez anywayyyy, I love the video!

Hey, I already am spending nine dollars a month for Juno. I spent two dollars for a marriage license fifty seven years ago and I got a lot more entertainment for just those two dollars. Does anyone wonder why we do not have to renew, or are bikes, cars, and boats more valuable than wives?

deborah said...

Hey Bill, on that comment: more valuable UNTIL you decide to divorce her! Just keep that in mind. Go get flowers fast, man. Oh, by the way, if she is a SAHM, she's worth 6 figures. Just sayin.

Harmonica Man said...

jennine - Tap involuntarily? Aren't you describing a seizure?

hilly - I've been enjoying the escapades of Hilly and Karl for a long time :-)

bill - $9/mo for Juno. Aren't you the one who always said "you get what you pay for?"

deborah - You have NO idea how much my mom is worth - after spending 50+ years taking care of Bill. She's a super SAHM because after we left the nest, she still had the biggest kid of all to take care of!

deborah said...

it's all coming together now. So Bill is Dad. That explains Juno and "u-tube", the $2 marriage license - very funny. I can just see the holidays. Please please can we start seeing the holidays on you tube?? I'm betting everyone would love to see your family on You Tube!

Harmonica Man said...

He's the reason Jennine first delurked a long time ago. She said something about our family being like a MN version of Seinfeld. Totally cracked me up.

Bill said...

OUCH!!!!

onetallmomma said...

I liked it even better the second time. Thank you.

Will there be more forthcoming....?

Harmonica Man said...

ashley - Yes. Starting this Monday I'm posting a new song every week for the next 8 weeks. Woo-hoo!

I guess High Forehead as a band name was already taken. Great music.

deborah said...

Ok, it's Monday - where. is. the. song????

Harmonica Man said...

deborah - Oh no! I've decided to wait until next Monday to start my Monday Night Live series. So sorry. Now you're going to have to call me a liar, which is highly appropriate considering my post for tomorrow is about lying. But it'll be a contest so that will be fun. Right? Right?

Finally getting caught up on my blog reading and I can't believe I didn't read this one sooner. I believe Her Majesty is going to be your biggest fan over in Oz, as she made me replay it twice.

"Mummy's bogger friend Jeff... is he like Jeff on the Wiggles?" LOL

Heather said...

I finally had a chance to attempt to watch it. Yeah, dial-up sucks for viewing U-Tube. But we have no choice . . . out here in the "country". Ha!

From what I could tell, you sound good in 10 second intervals!

Harmonica Man said...

mooselet - She called me a bogger? Is that like a blogger booger? Too cute. Make sure to watch on Monday night for round 2!

heather - Sure, everybody sounds good for 10 seconds.

Wow that was great! But I was expecting a harmonica. When do you tour in NY?
