Most Outdated Bathroom Contest

In my last post I was surprised by how many people commented that they currently have blue, pink or (God forbid) seafoam-colored fixtures in their bathrooms. I thought we were the only household left on the planet who were blessed with these bathroom beauties.

This of course begs the need for a contest. Wouldn't it be fun to see who currently has the most outdated, "undecoratable", or generally hideous bathroom pieces?

I think so.

So here's the deal... send me pictures of your bathrooms and I'll post them all in a future contest. Then, we can all vote on the best of the worst. The lucky winner will walk away with this prestigious award:

The coveted Golden Toilet!

Simply email your pictures to st.cloud.harmonicaman(at)gmail.com to enter.

That being said, I'll start the contest with the first entry. Here is our current set of blue fixtures - at least until I finish my remodel. Not included in the picture is our beautiful blue bathtub which gives me bonus points for having the entire trifecta.

And just for fun, here are a couple of other examples of bathrooms I found on Google images.

a tribute to Pepto Bismol?

not green, but seafoam!

So send me your submissions - and may the worst best bath win!

CRAP! Pun intended, and us with bathrooms that aren't too bad. If you need a tie breaker let me know

Well, I would send you photos of our bathroom but it really seems unnecessary since it looks just like yours. Yes, the blue trifecta is in our home as well.

We also have scarily similar vanities. Stylish.

How about our bathroom? Is that up for the contest? If so, I call it. Here's the picture.

Jeff -- Great idea. Too bad I'm not in my old house anymore. And that second example bathroom? The pink and turquoise? That used to be my kitchen colors. I'm going to have nightmares tonight.

Aw, darn it. Our bathroom does suck but the fixtures are just white. But the wallpapering! Gah!

I used to live in a dinky little studio apartment years and years ago (about 18 years ago now that I think on it) that had a claw-footed bathtub and a cool old pink refrigerator. Life was so much funkier then. Now I feel old.

Yep, we too have the blue trifecta. It's lovely.

ve - The "scary" thing is that at some point in history, people thought these colors were hip!

carla - Hey, send me what you've got. We can let America be the judge.

heather - Nu-uh... I still want to see it. I'm sick that way.

b.m.lee - Very funny, considering you're probably the main cause for all this in the first place!

sam - I can't wait. I'm a sucker for an ugly bathroom.

kathy - Think happy bathroom thoughts before you go to sleep. Wait, that doesn't sound good either.

impetua - You had a refrigerator in your bathroom? Man, that WAS funky!

elizabeth - Well? I'm waiting...

My bathroom is too normal.

Pepto pink is my favorite.

as for your comment, I erased it and I share your sentiment. Speaking of crap, they don't miss a hint, a beat.

yes...your bathroom is truly nasty. I do however like the pepto bathroom. I won't be able to participate in this contest cause our apartment is only 2 yrs old...dangit!!

No one can beat Rick's bathroom. It is green in summer and white in winter.

i have an address somewhere for a website dedicated to bad bathrooms, but I can't find it damnit.

Our's isn't too bad unfortunately. I used to live in a shared house where I once had to clean the toilet using a wire scouring pad it was so caked with unpleasantness. Ah, happy days.

There was an entire house in Pond Creek that everyone called "The Funky House" because the entire house was painted that pink and green. We thought about buying it, but moving is too big of a pain. The people who bought it gave it a new coat of paint but kept the colors!

I don't have colored appliances but OMS my bathrooms are all hideous. Circa 1968, for real.

I'm trying...trying to renovate.

I can show you the hideous color I started painting the girls' bathroom.

I think this would be MUCH more fun if we actually had to be in the picture ... using the facilities.

MY EYES! MY EYES!

*blinks*

sorry... but those pictures were disgusting. ya know (or maybe you don't) my husband and i have moved many of times (all over the country) in our 22 years together, but i can honestly say we've NEVER had to cope with a bathroom quite as terrifying as that god-awful pink one. *shudders* seriously, you should consider yourselves lucky to've only had a bit o' blue to contend with lo those past few years! ; )

when we moved in, we tore up carpeting in the bathroom. yes, bathroom carpet. the memory of the odor makes my nose hairs curl.

You can tell what generation I'm from---I thought your blue bathroom fixtures were kinda neat!!! Growing up with everybody having white, the blue looked rather pretty to me. How about that?, Mom says!!

Bill says: Did you buy a low flow toilet that utilizes city water pressure instead of gravity to flush?

That pepto bismol one made me a little queezy.
