It's left for me

Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post about the homeless. It's not often, but every now and then I take a turn for the serious, so it's nice to know you'll back me on that when I do.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Ok, this is entirely too bizarre for me.

I found this image over at Odd Universe (which is kind of an addicting site in its own right I might add) and it's driving me and my wife crazy. According to the explanation, if you see her spinning counter-clockwise it means you're left-brained and if you see her spinning clockwise it means you're right-brained.

For some reason, when I first look at it she spins to the left. But then she changes to the right and back to the left again in an almost random kind of way. It's like I'm sitting on the brain fence or something - which kind of makes sense seeing as how I'm both a left-brained logistically anal weirdo and a right-brained musician/artist type.

But now I'm dying to know... at first glance how do you see her spinning - clockwise or counterclockwise?

Nevermind the spinning thing...is that what boobs are supposed to look like???

Jeff said...

Oh yeah look at that, she's naked. Huh, I hadn't noticed.

Avitable said...

I don't see how she can possibly be spinning in any direction other than to the right.

Miss Britt said...

OK I am freaked.

I looked at it and it was obviously spinning to the left counter clockwise. I'm arguing vehemently with Avitable that it is TO THE LEFT.

I turn around, and she's spinning to the right.

How can that be?!?!

Jeff said...

avitable - If you concentrate on her lower foot, when the heel and toe line up you can sometimes trick your brain into flipping her the other direction. But the truly bizarre thing is that will also change that foot to belong to the other leg. Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do!

miss brit - That's exactly what happens to me too. Freaky is right! Or is it left?

At first I only noticed nipples, but then I realized she is spinning clockwise for me.

I"m with you, Jeff---first she spins to the left, and then she spins to the right. Does that mean I have all the attributes of both left-brain and right-brain people?

Sandy said...

counter for me...which is surprising.

Heather said...

She did the same thing for me. First, to the left, now nothing but right.

That is really freaky.

And another saying me too (and you are so FOS you didn't notice the naked silhouette...I'm sure you are James Bond trained).

First it was left/counterclockwise and I was all, HUH?!? And no way anyone can see that going clockwise, so I stared harder to see how she could be going clockwise/right for anyone and lo and behold she switched to that direction.

What does it mean?

LOL

She's spinning clockwise for me. No doubt about it.

I can force myself into making her spin counter-clockwise, but when I lose my focus she reverts back to the other way.

That sounds like me. Easily right-brained, I have to really concentrate on left-brained activities, which do not come naturally for me.

I think it means you are not in your right mind.

I see her rotating clockwise; what's wrong with you people ;)

DrowseyMonkey said...

Right. I can't even force myself to make it spin the other way. I remember reading somewhere of how to make yourself make her spin the other way...but I couldn't do it.

Anyway...I want a silloet of a hunky naked guy spinning... :)

When I look at her she is standing perfectly still, staring back and I start spinning....it's really weird.

PG said...

clockwise at first look - always. I can get her to spin around counter-clockwise usually, but when I do I can't get her back again in the same viewing

allandnothingatthesametime said...

I can only see her spinning clockwise. She slows down for me, and I want to believe she'll spin the other way but, she's stubborn.

Mom Thumb said...

Yeah, she's doing the both ways thing for me, too. I think it means I am ambidextrous. Or ambiguous. Or ambivalent. Or just plain weird.

Doozie said...

at first glance it was counter....am I a man?

Doozie said...

I hate that freaking thing...once you turn her around it's hard to imagine it the other say...then I read that whit noticed her nipples and that just made me laugh until I pee'd

Windyridge said...

Three of us had a look. Two of us saw her going clockwise and I insist she's going counterclockwise. But then we all saw her change direction and go the other way. It was really weird. I think my 13 year old was more interested in the boobs tho'. LOL

G said...

Did my comment disappear? To the right with her, I say! Or clockwise if you prefer.

The first time I saw this (a few weeks ago, I guess), she was spinning to the left and I was all "WRONGGGGGG, I'm so not a left-brained gal!" Then in your post, she was originally spinning left...then after I read the attributes, she was turning right...now I just have a headache.

So....does that mean there's 8 more weeks of winter or what?

The lighting is all wrong... but I remember him before the hormone treatment. Real nice guy. Never woulda guessed.

If you are looking from the top of her head, she is spinning clockwise, which is the way I look at her. No one in the right brain would do otherwise.

If you are naughtily looking from the soles of her feet, she is spinning counter-clockwise.

Gale said...

I don't know my left from right and you want to know clockwise and counterclockwise? What time is it? What kind of torture is this??? Why would you want her to spin? Is this a test?

yellojkt said...

She was spinning clockwise, then I blinked and she went the otherway. I think this is just an excuse for geeks to stare at a silhouette of a nekkid girl.

pootandcubby said...

That is so weird. I only see her going counter-clockwise and as hard as I try can't figure out how people can see her going the other way.

Marie said...

I only see her spinning clockwise, I try to see her spinning counter-clockwise and she just won't. Saw this on another blog awhile back though, and on that blog it said clockwise meant left brained. So whant am I? Uni-brained???

Marie said...

Oh great, now she's going left. I guess I AM uni-brained.

Counter-clockwise and no other way, does it say anything about me winning a small fortune on the lottery any time soon ?

just dropping by and can't help but comment!
this spinning girl drove me crazy last year. she only spins clockwise for me. my right brain rules! there is another brain hemispheric dominance test where consistently i answered as right-brained too.

aieeeeeee! i'm sick! i'm sick! and, as such, consuming copious amounts of cold medications! which is my way of saying watching her just makes me nauseous. that said, at first the figure was spinning counter-clockwise, but when i scrolled down to read the rest of your post, she was going clockwise. glad to know this happened to you, too -- which means the "drugs" aren't completely responsible for what i saw.

cool find, Jeff! oh, and hey, while i'm here, may i take a moment to mention the cool post you did in the SNARK? because it's hilarious, and -- bonus -- won't make anyone throw up! ; )

Jeff, I'm with you - she was definitely spinning counter clockwise at first but then she was clearly spinning clockwise at the next glance!

I'm a rightie all the way. This was cool and freaky. And those boobs!

HIIIIIIIII JEFF!! Sorry, I'm just a bit excited since I haven't visited in a while, 4 kids and solo parenting make Betty a bit cranky and very busy!

So, to answer your question...I'm left-brained but I'm not good with Math and Science (I know, I'm Asian and I'm supposed to right?!) but NO!

wayabetty said...

oh yeah, I read your comment about tricking your mind by looking at her left foot, I did see her doing turning clockwise but then it switches back to counter-clockwise for me.

Chris C said...

I see counter-clockwise but some of those clockwise traits apply to me as well.

I think you see it both ways because your brain knows it spins both ways.

It is kind of like when Columbus first arrived in the New World. The natives could not see his ships despite them being right offshore because they had never seen them before. They didn't know what to look for.
