Ode To My Mom

My youth was guided by your love
You made me feel secure
You taught me how to rise above
When others weren't so pure

And every night you tucked me in
And said this little prayer
I always fell asleep in peace
Just knowing they were there

"There are four corners on my bed
There are four angels overhead
Mathew, Mark, Luke and John
Bless this bed I sleep upon"

When I grew older you were there
To encourage me along
"You're such a great musician hon
Don't quit while you're so young"

And when I left to hit the road
To travel state to state
You cried and said you loved me
And you told me I'd be great

So thank you mom for all you've done
You're with me every day
In every good decision
That I've made along the way

Happy Mother's Day mom... I love you.

My mom also sang to me and to my sister every night (and every night she said the same thing--that her voice used to be better before she started smoking. Even though she started when she was 14).

She didn't really encourage me when I became a musician. She did what she thought was right.

Happy Mother's Day to your mom.

Oh, boy. I got my mom a card and some zinnia seeds. I'm a terrible daughter.

What a lovely tribute.

Happy Mother's Day, Jeff's Mom! (I don't feel quite right calling her Lois)

By the time you came along I think mom wised up and changed the prayer. Mine was "...If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take." Not exactly the stuff of sweet dreams. Nice poem, but I brought her flowers, a cappacino, and I vacumed. And Happy Mothers Day to Charlie, and all you mommy readers.

That's such a sweet poem, Jeff. You're so multi-talented! And to think, I only got my mom a pendant. So did your son write a tribute to his mom, too, or did he go the more traditional route (e.g., you bought something for him)?

Rick vacuumed??? Next to a man's hands in hot, sudsy dish water, that's like the hottest thing EVER! And I'm not even kidding.
