Summer's Here

Hey everyone! Miss me?

Between summer activities and being busy with work, I've pretty much put the old blog on the back burner for the last few weeks.

I'm sure you've noticed... after all, doesn't your every day revolve around whether or not I write something engaging or stop by your place and say something impossibly witty?

I thought so.

Anyway, just wanted to report in that I haven't been kidnapped by hobbits or moved to Burma.

And as if I wasn't busy enough this week, I've also got a full weekend planned - of which you'll be blessed with full details next week.

So have a great weekend everyone. And in honor of it, I'll leave you with one of my favorite summer lyrics by none other than Mr. Smooth himself - James Taylor...

Summer's here, I'm for that
Got my rubber sandals, got my straw hat

Drinkin cold beer, man I'm just glad that I'm here...
It's my favorite time of the year and I'm glad that I'm here, yeah.

Wild times at your house this weekend eh? If gas wasn't $4000 a gallon I'd be there.

There are worse things than being kidnapped by Hobbits. Just think of all the breakfasts!

But Burma is so lovely this time of year!

Dan said...

You haven't been kidnapped? but then who was I paying the ransom money to??

Jennine said...

Too funny! I'll be in the Cloud on Saturday night...covering the Minnesota All-Stars Football game. A local kid is playing on the out-state team.

I hope Jennine brings her camera!!! Bill

Phew! I was just saying to my husband, "I wonder if Jeff has, in fact, moved to Burma?"

I'm relieved you haven't.

Although I'm sure Burma has Internet capability, so no excuses if you ever do move there.

heather - It's not $4000/gal, it's $4000.99/gal.

g - And NO cover charge!

drowsey monkey - Actually I am planning my next project right now. I'm putting a new front porch on my house in a few weeks. I'll spare you all the details on this one though ;-)

chris - Don't panic Chris... I'm still here.

ed - I know, it doesn't look like it since I've managed to throw a couple of posts up over the last several days. But those were pre-written and I haven't been blog-browsing like normal so I really have been awol.

alice - Well, I DO like to eat 6 times a day, so I guess I'd fit right in.

dave2 - Sure, if you don't mind the giant snakes.

dan - You mean you didn't get a receipt?

jennine - I looked up your game time and unfortunately it looks like you'll be busy during our thing. However, there's always Bubba's with The Receders later! ;-)

bill - Really. I can only imagine the shots she'd be able to get.

jd - I'm sure they do. Rangoon is a
pretty hip place.

mylhibug - JT? Just some guy who old farts like me like to listen to.

lori - You said it!

Memarie Lane said...

Yep I was just wondering the other day where you disappeared to.

And here I thought you were just ignoring me...

I am happy to see you were just ignoring everyone.

;)

Have a great weekend. Mine is FOUR days long with Canada Day on Tuesday!!! Whoo Hoo!

Jennine said...

Jeff- Perhaps your "event" is more important than the silly All-Star game. You should really give me a hint.

Jeff said...

memarie - I can imagine. ;b

maureen - No, I'm an equal opportunity ignorer. BTW, what does Canada have to celebrate? (haha)

jennine - I did send you an email but it's probably an old address. Anyway, we're kind of excited because the Mayor named Austin the Grand Marshal of the parade this year. But I'm just hoping my crappy little digital Kodak will capture the moment good enough *sigh*.

They've taken the hobbits to Isengard! Dang it, I was hoping to get to see The Receders this weekend, but it looks like I will be photographing the reception until fairly late. Have fun - I'm looking forward to pics of the other event.

The problem with Burma is you have to shave. Get it? Burma shave. Never mind...have some steak and beer for me.

You don't want to go, maybe even not joke, about Burma/Myanmar:

"The editor of the Myanmar Tribune has been arrested and his magazine closed after he travelled to the cyclone-hit Irrawaddy Delta to help bury people killed in the storm.

Reporters Without Borders and the Burma Media Association say Aung Kyaw San was arrested on June 15 along with 16 others who volunteered to help bury the cyclone dead.

The volunteers had buried 400 bodies and were returning to Rangoon for more burial sacks when they were arrested.

The media groups are calling on the junta to stop preventing civil society, including the press, from participating in the relief effort.

More than 138,000 people are dead or missing after Cyclone Nargis hit the country nearly two months ago."

By the way... how is that Al Franken run for the senate viewed by y'all?

Hey, I caught that line about Oh Canada!

But I still like ya.

Looking forward to the weekend news...have a good one Jeff!

And are you sure you're not in Burma.. the word verification looks Burmese to me "rymmkkuy"

Jeff said...

mom thumb - Dang... so close. Bill and Lois say "hi."

ve - "Some" steak? I'm going to eat the whole damn thing!

jimmy - I can't speak for the rest of MN, but I'm not interested in voting for Al Franken. To me, his issues seem to be scripted and not very deep. But that doesn't mean he won't get elected. Look what happened with the whole Jesse Ventura debacle. Hey, thanks for stopping by!

karen meg - Hey, take off eh. I like Canadians as much as the next hoser.

Me too, on the subject that summer is finally here. I have been a cranky wench because of grey weather, but NOW we are actually topping out at 80 degrees...yeah!

Yep, my life totally revolves around what witticisms you've posted.

And I'm totally intrigued by what you've got on tap this weekend. No fair!

Well this is your most boring post ever, but I do understand. please go out and cause some trouble so you have something to write about

Jeff said...

carla - I have a cranky wrench on my work bench!

michelle - Hmmm, perhaps you need to reexamine your life. I'm just saying...

doozie - What a coincidence... this happens to be your most boring comment ever. What a match!

I had a friend approach me today, very excitedly, while he advised me that Old Navy is having a big sale! A huge sale! I mean... one dollar flip-flops! (Okay, he's gay.) I looked soberly at him and said, "Flip-flops? Are you kidding me? Whatever would I do with those?" He laughed as it dawned on him that I wouldn't dream of wearing such things.

Happy Summer!
