OMG---what BEAUTIFUL pictures!!! I've said so many times to dad, the one place I'd love to see is Niagra Falls. Your pictures are the next best thing to being there!!!

mom - These pictures don't even begin to do it justice. You can't capture the awesomeness of the place in pictures because you need to experience the whole package of vastness, sound, spraying mist, and the unbelievable volume of rushing water all at the same time to really appreciate how amazing this place really is. But feel free to spend some of my inheritance to go there. Not ALL of it, but you know, enough to get there and stay in a reasonably-priced hotel. ;-)

Oh my! What great photos! I cant imagine what it must be like to stand there amongst it all. I imagine it's very noisy and exhilarating.

Brings back memories. When we lived in Toronto my mom would take us to the falls every weekend. I've seen it from the Canadian side, the American side, I've been behind them and in the Maid of the Mist and have seen them frozen. My mom couldn't get enough of them, but to tell the truth, they always kinda scared me.

Those are amazing shots!

You shutterbug, you!

We were there in November last year...didn't you just love the little body condoms!?

Impetua said...

That is a truly awesome picture of you in the yellow rain poncho.

Niagara Falls looks great, I look forward to visiting there someday.

Jeff said...

babs - It's exactly noisy and exhilarating!

elizabeth - I have to admit, I didn't like being by that little waist high railing right next to where the water went over the edge. It kinda gave my stomach the willys!

jennine - Thank you! Most high praise coming from my favorite photographer.

mushy - Yeah, but unlike real ones, these were recyclable. Oh... I really wish I hadn't used that analogy.

impetua - Sure, "awesome" in a "he's a total dork" kind of way.

What a bunch of great memories for you and your children.

Those falls look "canoeable". I'm all over it. I can't believe you didn't take your poor mother to niagra falls, she's always wanted to go there you selfish bastard!!!

The best-est time to visit Niagara Falls is in the winter.
There is not a soul around - just the rumbling of the falls.
They still light up the falls so the romance is exclusively yours.

That's why I don't visit the Falls area in the summers anymore !
I usually go there somewhere between Christmas and Valentines Day.

Wow! Looks like you and the family had a fabulous time! You are SO tall! lol... Your kids are super cute. Good job Jeff!

And yes, the photos are awesome!

Michelle said...

Wow -- so much fun! I love the pictures, especially the sign (duh), the waterfall with the rainbow and the night waterfall with the almost green water. Thanks for taking that road trip for me ;)

Looks like you had a great time!!!

Wonderful pictures, now I feel like I should go somewhere... maybe the Dells.

Jeff said...

bill - I agree. And Roseanna will actually remember this trip, unlike the times we took her to Disney when she was 1 1/2 and 3 years old.

doozie - Hey! This is the first I've heard of it myself!

jaffer - As nice as you make it sound, all I can think of is, "holy crap... that sounds cold!"

corrina - No no... I'm the guy in front at the Guinness museum.

michelle - My pleasure!

haha...the yellow ponchos ... I've worn those a time or two!

Great photos! I think the photo of the ferris wheel is almost exactly like the one I have on my photo blog...that my sis took in Feb,lol.

Looks like you had a great time!!! And ya didn't fall in, very cool.

Drowsey Monkey said...

Just realized you got Tim Horton's in the photo too ... now it's even cooler :)

cathouse teri said...

Oh... you gotta wear one of those entire body condoms when you go to the Falls? Yuck. Maybe I won't go there.

GORGEOUS pics! :)

Anette said...

I would love to see that!! All that water, just fantastic! And you looked very handsome in that yellow outfit!

We did the falls a couple of years ago. You forgot to tell the best part. Not only do you get to wear the yellow suit and stand in a hundred mile an hour wind spray, but hanging onto the railing you try and walk up stairs against the wind, looking over the edge down into swirling waters, but when it's all done, you get to keep the shoes! And a beautiful pair of shoes they are. I love to wear them everywhere because they have "Niagara Falls" written all over them!! sis

What stunning shots. Looks like all got wet but had fun.

Windyridge said...

It's an amazing place. My favorite spot was just at the top right next to the bar, as close to the falls as you could get up there. The power and volume of all that water was amazing.
I see you went to Ripley's. Fun place. Great pics!

cathouse teri said...

There are shoes? Nobody said anything about shoes!

Maureen said...

Ha! Love the Timmy's sign; proof positive you were on the Canadian side.

I would love to see the falls, but whilst my family is peering dangerously over the edge, I fear I would be the one backing away in terror.

Jeff said...

roger - The boulevard with all the attractions reminded me a lot of the Dells. And if you haven't been to the Dells, you really should go. The kids will LOVE it.

drowsey - Yeah, I'm curious as to why Tim Horton has made it across the border yet. We ate there once and really liked it.

teri - You don't have to wear a rain coat, and they only pass them out for the Journey Behind the Falls and the Maid of the Mist tours. My kids even took theirs off on the boat so they could get soaked. Good times!

anette - "Handsome" isn't a word I would have come up with. But thanks! ;b

sis - Wait a minute... we didn't get any shoes! We only visited the Canadian side. Was that an American side deal?

curtis - We had a GREAT time. And the cool mist of the water was welcome on a very hot day. :-)

windyridge - I agree. The fact that you can stand like 2 feet from the ledge where all the water goes over is kind of unbelievable. Like I said earlier... it gave me the willys!

teri - Exactly!

Jeff said...

maureen - This would not be a good place for a smart-assed friend to come up behind you and give you one of those "pretend" pushes. I think I would lose it.

I was hoping for a rainbow shot, and that one didn't disappoint. I guess it's just there all the time when it's sunny?

colbymarshall said...

so pretty! But, did you try to go over in a barrel at all? I didn't see any barrel pictures... I'm visiting from over at VE's blog...:-)

Mom Thumb said...

We went to Niagara Falls when the kids were about six and nine and Jess at least doesn't really remember it. Your kids got a great experience and I don't think they'll forget it!

April said...

I remember the Maid of the Mist! When we lived in Rochester, and my parents came for a visit, we took the girls. I'll have to dig up those pics...

I'm glad your family had such a great time!

yellojkt said...

Sure looks like it was a great trip.

The one with you in the yellow rain poncho makes me think of your alien post....

The world's tallest man picture is funny too.

Gette said...

Awesome pics!
iPastor was back in the cloud today outfitting the family band. Yikes. So not the Partridge Family.

Kathy said...

You obviously had more fun at the Falls than I did. What, me with that fear of falling and dying thing. Good to see you and your kids made the most of your visit. p.s. I miss you guys already!

Awesome photos! Love the rainbow one. I still don't see any stickers . . .

susan - I would imagine. There's certainly enough mist to cause one!

colbymarshall - Sorry, they have a strict "no barrel" policy. Regulations... bah!

mom thumb - I hope they don't forget it. Ironically, I'll probably be the first one who dos someday.

april - Boy, you've lived everywhere huh? Thanks, we had a great time.

yellojkt - You know it!

sarah - I was wondering when someone was going to comment that I looked like an alien. I was kinda thinking ET.

gette - Are you going to wear matching jumpsuits? ;b I was spending money at the music store today too. We probably just missed each other.

kathy - You gotta get close enough to actually see them Kath. Then it's a bit more fun ;-)

jd - Silly... there are no stickers in these pictures. I'll post some proof of stickership in a few days.

Jacki said...

You have some great looking kids! And it looks like you had a great time. I really want to go see Niagara Falls someday.

Dan said...

Damn, someone already took my barrel gag

carlae said...

It's amazing to me how close you can get to the falls and how FAST the water is moving. Gravity rules!
It was also the first time I realized that Canada had a cheap commercial side to them.
...and yes I DID grow another letter.

Karen MEG said...

EXCELLENT!

We weren't far from you guys, at Niagara-on-the-Lake last weekend but not with the family. Next stop, the Falls WITH the kids.

Thanks for sharing Jeff. Great little trip with your family - and it looks like the kids wanted to be there with you too ;)

VE said...

Very nice photos Jeff. Only a dork would be wearing that yellow body condom though. I prefer to spend $1000 on custom fit North Face outdoor weather gear...especially in summer. But that's just what we Pacific NW people do...

The thing I hate about blogging is that each time I see great photos from some awesome locale, it becomes yet another place on my list of places I need to go to, or in this case, go back to. Been a long time since I've been to Niagara.

Mrs. R said...

Okay, so maybe that makes up for the road trip...

Those pictures are beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I've just put Niagra Falls on my list of places to visit.
