Mostly Wordless Wednesday

Many moons ago I mentioned in this post that during our trip around the lakes that we "...will end up touching the shores of all 5 Great Lakes in one trip."

Well, I'm happy to say we accomplished that mission... literally. Here is a map of the places we stepped into each lake along with the pictures of each.

Lake Erie

Lake Ontario

Lake Huron

Lake Superior

Lake Michigan

You think you're so superior just because you visited Lake Superior, don't you?

Wow, just wow... and I'm so impressed that your teens will travel with you ;)

That's awesome! Congrats! How was your time in Rottenchester? That's where I'm from. Grew up with Lake Ontario about 500 feet away from my house. :)

Awww, your kids look so happy! Could you swim in the lakes, or was the water too cold?

Did your boys forget to shower before you hit Lake Superior? Or did Roseanna?

Michelle said...

That is SUCH a long road trip. That I'll never be making.

But ummm aren't you supposed to dip your toes into each of the lakes vs just touching the shores? Or are you just too worried about all the pollutants in the lakes now?

Sarah said...

Were your boys to chicken to go in the water because roseanna is the only one i see in the water.....

That's pretty awesome. I LOVE pictures!

Everybody's got to have a goal...congrats!
I spent an awesome day at Lake Erie once. But I never got to run through Seneca Falls in the snow, yelling "Merry Xmas, you old Building and Loan!" I'm still bummed about that.

I don't believe it for a second. I think they are all the same lake! Probably your garden pond or something.

That is just the coolest. And I love the way you displayed it! I'm going to put you on my "worship" list today.

And I noticed that no one was wearing CROCS! Yay!

I love how Rosie is always in the water!

And, btw, congrats to Austin for being named the chair or president or head honcho or whatever the title is of the Park and Rec Board! Quite the accomplishment at age 16. Maybe he'll be running for president next!

Alrighty then. Now I've got something elso to add to my list--I'll put it right after milk a cow and just before runa marathon.

rickey - Actually, I'm from Duluth so I grew up on Lake Superior. That must make me king or something.

karen meg - I don't remember saying anywhere they had a choice. ;-)

jennine - Yes. And thanks for assking.

maureen - Too late now anyway. I added the missing picture.

mom - What? You blew up my kids?!!! Hey, if you think your grandkids are good-looking you should see your son!

liberal banana - We didn't spend much time there but Brandon really liked RIT a lot. And I don't blame him... that's a beautiful campus!

elizabeth - Funny you should ask. The kids were all set to swim in Lake Ontario but they had a sign up that said the water conditions were unsafe - whatever that means.

heather - Rosie was having fun with how shallow the water was out there. But yes, her brothers could have probably used a shower too.

michelle - Roseanna was our designated toe-toucher. I have other pictures that show her in every lake but these were the best ones of the gang.

sarah - More like too lazy - to take off their shoes and socks and roll up their pants etc.

corrina - Me too. They're much easier than weeding through all those words.

april - Oh well, you can't have it all.

dan - You're on to me Dan. Actually, we took all of those at down at Blackmoorfoot.

teri - Thanks, but no need for worship. Unless you're giving to my collection plate that is.

durblady - Thanks. I'll be doing the Austin update in the next few days. That was quite a surprise!

ed - That actually was a fun trip. You could easily spend 2 weeks just stopping at cool places around the lakes. And if you were to do it for real, you'd definitely want to go up and over Lake Superior too.

I always thought you just had Roseanna. Then a son popped up a few days ago, and now you have 3 kids!

Mom Thumb said...

That's very cool. And even though I lived on Lake Superior for over five years, that's a view I've never seen. Way to go Roseanna, that water is freakin' COLD!

Jacki said...

I am still amazed you were able to travel that far with three teenagers!

Jeff said...

memarie - I think that's all there is.

mom thumb - After her legs went numb it really didn't matter how long she stayed in.

jacki - It wasn't too bad. And when they got too squirrelly, I just tossed them in the trunk. JUST KIDDING! I tied them to the roof.

That sounds so cool! I may have to take that trip!

Cool trip! Nice pics!

Roger said...

Way cool.

You did have your daughter wash up after sitting in those lakes didn't you? Oh wait, she didn't stand in Lake Michigan, she should be okay. :)

Jeff said...

sexy - You should. It's a beautiful circuit. :-)

dftf - Thanks! I have tons more but I'm too lazy to create a Flicker account and share them.

roger - I thought Erie was the polluted one. Did Michigan take the honor?

My butt's tired just thinking about driving that route. But it also looks pretty cool. We might just have to try that.

Jeff,

Thank you sincerely for your kind comments about the situation with my dad.

I grew up in Mississauga (an hour west of Toronto and very close to Lake Ontario) and spent much time down on the shore for picnics - one summer, I even managed a day-camp at the Lake, for a Baptist church. We now live almost as close to Lake Huron as to Lake Ontario. I love dipping my toes in the water or just striding along the beach.
It looks like you had a wonderful vacation and it's quite an accomplishment to see all of the Great Lakes.

That's very cool!

That one with your daughter way back in the water kinda scared me, I looked at it quickly ... lol.

Roger said...

Jeff, yup it was Erie, my bad.

I just know that I won't swim in it. :) Then again, that picture looks like it came from the northern part, not down south with the refineries and ecoli. :) Maybe I'm just a tad to harsh, sorry Lake Michigan...
