Well folks, we finally did it. Or at least we're in the process of doing it.
A few weeks ago The Receders spent some time in the studio and laid down 5 tracks for our first CD. We'll still need a few more sessions before all 12 songs are in the can, but here is the first cut we just received back from the engineer.
It still needs a little tweaking in the mix, but overall I think it came out pretty well.

So stay tuned. Our goal is to have this wrapped up and released by January 1.
And when we do... there's gonna be a par-tay!

WOW! Congratulations! The song is AWESOME and I am playing host to a jar of pickles that belong to a rock star!
I might just have to sell them on Ebay now.
Weh-hey! That's great! Congratulations! I bet you are so excited :O)
Sounds great! Congrats!
jennine - Wait a minute... I still want those. What's your Buy It Now price?
babs - That's a true statement!
heather - Thanks, this has been a lot of fun so far. And we haven't even gotten to my tunes yet!
Wow, you guys sounds great! How long does it take to record one song? Is it like a day? Or can you record a couple of songs in a day?
Congrats!!
Wow. I don't mean to sound surprised, but your band totally rocks. I can't wait to hear more.
Great sound, instantly likeable. Easy-going, but with a rock feel. Reminds me of a few 90's bands I can't quite put my finger on.
I'll definitely buy a CD when it comes out (unless you send me a free review disc - hint, hint).
well yeah for you.
Congratulations, Jeff and the rest of the Receders! Loved the song. Sticks in your head! I'll expect we can buy our copies in the new year? Really happy for you guys and I'm impressed you can pull this together with jobs and families.
The first thing great musicians do is buy a new car for their poor parents! {Sounds great}
Very cool! I love all the musician lingo sprinkled thru out the post, lol
Congrats! Love the song
The song is absolutely great. And I especially liked the harmonica part!!! AND the piano part. I wonder why!!!
The new track is awesome, and the old one is a whole lotta 80s!!
Well, I'd say that I really like the harmonica part but I don't want to sound like a suck up. Definitely music I could listen to though! Yay you!
Could a world tour be far off? Good for you guys. Great tune.
Wow, Jeff... congrats! You certainly are a man of many hats. Talented hats at that.
Awesome. Don't forget us little people when you become famous, K?
Congratulations and good luck with this!!
I can say I knew you when. :)
Make sure to make MP3s for us iPodaholics. :)
Way cool! I was also going to comment on the awesome harmonica. And I wonder who taught you to play the piano like that. ;-)
elizabeth - We did 5 songs in one 8 hour day. Hmmm, maybe I'll write about the studio process. That should be somewhat interesting. At least to me.
sandy - And you will.
phil - Thanks. If the rest of your reviews are going to be that positive I'll make sure you get one for sure ;-)
deborah - Well, the other 3 guys may have had a little something to do with it too.
kathy - I'm hoping we'll be done by Jan. But you're absolutely right about it being a challenge to do it. First we had to get together to rehearse, then all had to take a vacation day just to get in the studio on a week day.
bill - There's a big difference between great musicians and wealthy ones!
drowsey - That's true... "par-tay" is the original musician's lingo.
mom - Thanks mom. You're doing a good job fulfilling your professional mom duties.
gette - "A whole lotta 80s" pretty much describes my 20s.
michelle - Go ahead and be a suck-up. I don't mind. :-)
g - Yes, a world tour would be far off. VERY far. But thanks for the vote of confidence.
maureen - As a "receder," I do wear a lot of hats. You know, sunburn and all that.
julie - I'll probably wait until all the songs are finished before I publish any mp3s. Right now they're still works in progress. Hey, I hope all is well after Ike bit you guys down there in TX!
mom thumb - You're right of course. If it weren't for my mom, I wouldn't be writing this post today!
How do you like that... Blogger now thinks I'm anonymous!
I love it! Y'all sound great!
(I'm still scratchin' my head about the tea comment.)
Party on Garth!
Congrats!
Holy crap, that's really good. I kinda thought you are you more like garage-band-wannabes, but I would totally go see you guys.
You totally kick the Spice Girl's ass!
Sweet! Definitely a nice way to ring in the new year.
Very exciting and very cool!
Wow you're gonna be famous! So all of us blog readers are getting signed copies yes?
Ok well how about running a contest with the hit cd as a prize?
I like WINDYRIDGE's idea for you and the whole band to autograph all copies bought by blog readers. Put me down for a copy.
It sounds great Jeff! Can't wait to play it on Guitar Hero too...cause I'd kick your butt on Medium!!!
Wow! My toes they are a'tapping! That sounds really good! Thanks for giving us a chance to hear a sneak preview.
JD at I Do Things
Congratulations! I'm still getting caught up on blog reading, but can't wait to hear them!
I'm so happy for you Jeff!! That's awesome! It's been a while since my last visit. Home life is really busy around here, projects after projects. Good luck to you and I can't wait to get my hands on that "vinyl" record. And then I can say, I "know" you!
