The Post Halloween Report

I had a total blast last night for Halloween.

The Receders played to a packed house at a local nightclub and practically every person in the place was in costume. It was awesome.

But before we played, Charli and I stopped at a friend's pre-gig party. Here's what I wore. Charli said it wasn't that much of a stretch.

I'll save you all the effort of repeating the most common joke I heard all night... "How come you didn't wear a costume?" Hilarious.

Of course geeks have to eat too.

Charli was looking unusually ghoulish last night.

Smokin!

After the party we headed over to a packed club.

Here's Charli with one of my dead friends.

Geeks gotta rock.

Then my dead friend's dead wife sat in as a guest cowbell player.

Sadly the night had to come to an end.

I just can't figure out why everyone thought I played such a convincing geek.

Everyone needs more cowbell!

Great post!

Where did you buy your dimples? They were the best part of the costume!

Heart your wife's costume - she looked very blood thirsty!

What a fun night !

That's not a Geek Costume. Geeks don't need a costume - you nerd !

Here's what a geek looks like.

Har! LOVE the costume Jeff! What a blast....

Love the high waters, but your waistline isn't pulled up high enough to your chest!

LOBO said...

Wait ... Why didn't you wear a costume again?

(HAW!)

:)

Not much of a stretch... didn't someone have to stretch something to get those pants so short? Ok so that was way funnier as a concept in my head than it was when I typed it. Oh well.

So what were you dressed as again? :)

Looks like a fun night, and great cowbell!!

Mike & Carli said they had a great time, AND IT WAS PACKED! {Find your camera?}

But you're not a geek. You're a cool rock 'n roller!

I always thought propeller beanies were very fashion-forward

heather - It really was.

mushy - Thanks! We had a fever... and the cure was MORE COWBELL!

kc - Costume? She didn't wear a costume. Hey, I should get the chance to use it too.

jaffer - You know I think you're right. Geeks would probably be offended by this post. I should have written "nerd." A subtle but very important difference.

maureen - Totally.

fancy schmancy - Sorry, it was as high as I could get em to go. ;-)

lobo - I knew it! There's always one in the crowd.

michelle - I get it. I think. Nice try anyway ;b

roger - Best ever. And packed all night!

bill - It was GREAT to see Mike, Carly and their friends. It was really nice of them to drive down and hang out with us. And no, someone else took all those pictures.

windyridge - Thanks. Only the mom of rock and rollers would understand.

gette - They ARE! My propeller hat got a lot of compliments. More than I did.

Oh. My. God.
I would sooo give you more points if I could just for playing "Honky Tonk Women".

There's just no other song on the planet that you can identify within two seconds of an intro cowbell.

Memarie Lane said...

wow you guys had way more fun than we did!

babs (beetle) said...

Oh now that looked like real fun!
It made me want to be there ;O)

And that's one of my favourite Stones songs!

Great costume. But I think that next year you should get some leather stuff and dress as your Livingston Fury self. And a mullet wig. Yeah.

carlae said...

Geeks AND cowbells what more could you want.

Looks like you guys had a fun night! Besides yours and your wife's, what was the best costume you saw?

yellojkt said...

It's the same rule that doctors and nurses can't just wear scrubs as a costume. You are supposed to dress up as something different!

Jennine said...

This post is exactly why we women tolerate all the poop/fart posts and keep coming back for more.

You in that costume... priceless.

You made my day. Again.

Charli had the right idea painting her face. Then few would know it was she who came with the nerd boy.

Looks like you had a great time. Me? I spent the night withholding candy from trick-or-treaters. Hey. I bought it.

Super Funny!! I went as a ditz and my friend went as a geek, we didn't know about the other's costume but it worked out great!!

Jeff said...

doug - It's a classic, that's for sure. But you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find someone who can actually play that riff!

memarie - Well, we were at slightly different places my dear. ;-)

babs - All right then. Book your tickets now for next year cause we're going back there again.

mom thumb - You know I actually considered that. But the thought of trying to find leather pants boggled my mind.

carlae - Nothing. That's as good as it gets.

elizabeth - My favorite was a guy that made it look like he was decapitated and was holding his real head in his hands. There were a lot of great outfits though so it was hard to decide.

yello - Good one. A variation on the "how come you didn't dress up?" theme but I'll give it to you anyway. ;-)

jennine - "Tolerate?" I thought that's why all the women flock to my blog. Are you trying to tell me women don't love the poop?

kathy - Are you one of those that turns off all the lights and doesn't answer the door? We had a name for people like you when we were kids... Egg targets! ;-)

Nice.

Your girl has some serious bedhead going on there.

The costume was a stretch? I can't imagine anyone associating "stretch" with you.

cathouse teri said...

Fun! I think you should have gone as Maxwell Smart and Agent 99.

VE said...

I was hoping you'd revise the Mullet-man, outfit and everything. But that one will do as well! Glad you had a great time!

Avitable said...

What exactly did you do? Just wrap some masking tape on your glasses?

:D

Jacki said...

Yeah, but did your shoes and socks match? I once worked with a guy that came to work in two different shoes..because he got dressed in the dark.

THAT's a nerd.

Cool pics! I've never seen a nerdier nerd.

You know, last year for my birthday my husband bought me a cowbell because I told him I had a dream of sitting in as guest cowbell player in all the bars in town. I've only actually played cowbell in one of them so far, but I am prepared if you ever need another guest cowbell player!

Looks like a great time! You definitely had way more fun than I did, huddled in my bedroom watching scary movies.

Charli looks AWESOME! You? Um . . . very convincing.

The only cure for geeks and the dead is more cowbell. That's a fact.

VE said...

Oh sure...just post every once in awhile and then sneak off and have a life while the comments pile up...

Jeff said...

april - Thank you... I do make a rather nice nerd if I do say so myself. ;-)

doozie - Stretch, Gumby, dork... I've been called them all.

teri - That sounds complicated... being two things at the same time.

ve - You know how hard it is to grow a mullet on short notice?

avitable - Very funny... coming from a guy in a dress.

jacki - Yes, but my tube socks were 2 different brands. Does that count?

jen - I see you've set some high goals for yourself. You can play cowbell with us anytime my dear.

jd - Ooh, scary movies sounds fun too. I'm nothing if not authentic.

whit - I guess I needed a stronger dose, cause neither of us were cured!

ve - Don't worry... I've got a presidential congratulations post coming up later tonight. Let's just hope I picked the right one!

Jeff said...

sarah - Oops... missed your comment somehow! Anyway, sounds like fun. Geeks happen to very fond of ditzes so it sounds like you made a great couple!

Bill said...

I am suprised that your old high school outfit still fits you!
