Day 5 of 12

I feel compelled to post something tonight even though I don't really have anything to say. That's odd.

I've always tried to post something every other day when possible, and over the last 3 years I've done that fairly consistently. And if you've been paying attention, you'll notice that I normally post only on even numbered days. I say normally in slanty letters because today of course is an odd numbered day. But I was too busy yesterday to get to it so here I sit on December 1st instead.

So far my vacation has been going pretty well, although today is really the first "official" day of my work vacation since Thursday and Friday were holidays.

The Receders spent 10 hours in the studio today recording another 6 songs. We have at least one more session before our CD will be finished but it may take more. We'll see how the next one goes. So far we have 11 songs in various stages of completion and want to record a total of 14.

My brother Rick is coming down from Duluth tomorrow to just hang out and do nothing - so he thinks. I didn't tell him about all the things I want him to help me with. But he won't mind... he's cool that way.

Well whatta ya know... I guess I did have something to say after all. Granted nothing earth-shattering or side-splitting, but still "something" all the same. But that's how it is when you're on vacation. Just when you think you'll have nothing to do but sit around and write long passionate posts, you find out you really only have time for a quickie.

But hey... there's nothing wrong with those either!

Nope, nothing wrong with that, and glad you're getting so much done with the CD. Can't wait to hear it.

Jeff - Mike here. We actually cut 7 base tracks today. That combined with the 5 in August we have 12 base tracks done. We'll do 3 more (and recut 1) in 3 weeks. Then get all the dubs, vocals, etc.....

It was a good day my friend... A long day which is where I can see how you lost count of what we did.

hmmm...long passionate, quickie ... are you sure you're talking about your blog?

unfinished rambler - I can't wait either!

mike - It WAS a good day! I got mixed up about the song count because we only rehearsed 6 of the 7 last night so now I have that number stuck in my head. But holy cow... we got a TON done today :-)

drowsey - I'll never tell.

Will you be giving away a copy of the CD on your blog? 'Cuz that would be a great giveaway. Just thought I'd mention it because I'm thoughtful like that.

How come when you have nothing to say, you say it so well?

And when I have nothing to say, I just say nothing, which most people think is just as well.

For someone with nothing to say, you sure said a lot. I'm just saying...

Oh, and I like the idea of a cd giveaway. I'm in!

I just read the post today, so you're still even to me. Lucky you with the vacation - I have 13 days UNTIL mine. But I think you're getting some good, winterish weather, so you're still ahead. Can't wait to hear the CD!

You and Rick do a nice job on those Christmas lights now.

Okay, my veri was molog. Is that like a hobbit? And this one is hatetert. Isn't that a word?

You'll be amazed at how fulfilling doing nothing can be! It'll be everything you hoped it would be!

Ok, Jeff, swing by the blog today because I am calling upon your mighty blogging powers to help spread the word of a blogger in need (me)!

11 A.M. Rick is on the way! Plan his day.

isn't it funny how when you actually have time to post you can't tink of anything to say?

Lookin' forward to the cd. A giveaway is a great idea. You should upload it to LastFM. I am sure I can get you a bunch of listeners. You could be famous!!

Take a break. Get Rick to write a blog. He wrote a play recently you know.

You really are taking twelve days off. I can only dream of such leisure. My wife is a teacher and I only get three weeks, so I have never had a day off that didn't involve travel.

heather - You ARE thoughtful! And yes, that sounds like a splendid idea.

phil - Aw shucks, I don't know what to say.

ed - I like that idea too. Maybe I'll win one!

teri - Get?... Get? ;b

kc - I hear it's supposed to snow tonight. Bleh... I'm not ready for that.

mom thumb - I'm going to pretend I don't like being up on the roof and make Rick do all the lights himself. Shhh, don't tell him. So is a hatetert the opposite of a sweetheart?

ve - I'm still working on the doing nothing part. After 5 days I've only done "nothing" for about 5 hours. I need to get my ratios in order!

bill - Plan Rick's day? That shouldn't be too hard. Let's see... wake up, eat, take a nap, eat, take another nap, eat, watch TV, eat, go to bed. There.

memarie - Like right now. I can't think of anything to say in reply of your comment. Weird.

windyridge - I already am famous... in my own mind. Does that count?

bill - I'd be afraid to let him write a post here. He knows too much.

yellojkt - One of the years I'll actually get to take some time off... with my wife! Our 20th is coming up next summer so I have big plans. Uh, let me rephrase that... I WANT to have big plans.

Ten Hours????

That's longer than a normal work day! I thought you said you were "vacationing". ;)

I hope you realize I'll want an autographed copy of that CD....

Glad you're enjoying your vacation. I bet it will feel strange going back to work after so much time off.

I read this on the 2nd, so as far as I'm concerned, your even-numbered days of posting is still consistent.

Roger said...

Now you are starting to sound like me... That's no good! Go write some songs, or watch 26 hours of Dr. Who --- it's fun! Only 10 more to go...

I know it can be hard work recording, but still very enjoyable. I can't think of a better way to spend a winter break ;O)

**Drowsey, where is your mind lately? I didn't give that a thought - eh-hem ;O)

Hey, Jeff? Can you help me out with something on your vacation? Can you work for me this afternoon? You do great with tech support, right? I'll give you access to my system remotely and then you can help my clients remotely so they think it's from me. You don't even have to talk to them. Just fix all their problems. That'd be swell. You needed something to do anyway, right?
