Hello?... Check... Check... Is this thing on?

Huh... turns out that when you've written 560 posts every other day for over 3 1/2 years, it kinda becomes something you get used to doing.

I've only been on "break" all of 10 days and yet it feels like it's been 3 months. It feels like people have abandoned me.

In my imagination, everyone who's ever loved me out there in Bloggy Land has removed me from their feeders and cleared me from their blog rolls. People have started talking about me in past tense. "Remember that guy from that one cloud blog? I forget his name. You know... he was really tall?"

And my Stat Counter supports this as well. Why just 15 days ago I was enjoying the likes of 230 unique visits and 35 return visits a day from my friends. Know what it was today? 45 and 4. {{{Sob}}} How quickly they forget :-(

But the hardest part of stepping away is not keeping up with what YOU have been doing! Right now my feed reader says I have 614 unread items. Ugh. Sorry folks... I love you all to death but even if I was to dress up like Evelyn Wood I couldn't catch up on that many posts. So you'll have to forgive me if I just press the little "Mark all as read" button and start over from square one.

But please, do me one favor... If you've written something extraordinary over the last 10 days that you think I would enjoy - let me know!

Especially if it's about me.

Welcome back Jeff! And just for the record, I never abandoned you...I was one of those 4 return bloggers with nothing to do but look for you.

Oh, and I cannot wait for the CD to come out. I'm so getting one!

Elizabeth said...

Hope you had a good break!

Heather said...

Well, why would we visit if there was nothing new here to read?

I think everything I write is magnificent, but I've been known to be wrong too.

My word verification is shaudp which seems to be telling me to shut up. Not very nice Jeff.

Who are you and how did you get into my feedreader??

Al my stuff is great, so get reading. In fact I demand you start at day one of my archives.

When I took a break in November my statcounter did similar things. They didn't dip so low though, but that was probably because they weren't as high in the first place.

Now they are back to normal. don't worry about it.

I came as soon as you popped up in my feed reader, so I didn't forget you! Wait, what was your name again?

I had a post about some thieving bastards trying to break into my car, and how hot it is in Brisbane but you probably don't want to know about that last one. :-)

Welcome back.

Well, I only visit if my google reader says you've posted somthin' ... like now! lol

well, I haven't written anything worth worrying over. Do what I do when it's too much, just click "Mark All as Read" and start over on Monday.

Welcome back!

Hmm well we had a cute lamb born in minus 16 degrees.
The numbers drop cuz your feed is "bare" and lots of people comment on yours when they click on your comment on theirs, so get viaiting :-)

Windyridge said...

viating? Where di that come from? My keyboard is haunted. I meant to say "commenting". :-0

I can guarantee you more traffic if you do dress up like Evelyn Wood and post a photo.

I took a two week break, and it was refreshing. But it's nice to be back writing too. Looking forward to seeing you back as a regular poster when things thaw out up there.

Jeff: You still have to let us know how the CD is going.

I'd like to say I've written dozens of hilarious posts in the last couple of weeks, but it wouldn't be true. Some semi-amusing things I've found, though, were here about Obama being the Anti-Christ:

Also I know about having too many items in the reader and just having to click on "Mark all as read". I had a stomach flu earlier in week and just starred a few items then clicked that magic button. I'm still wading through the starred items. Glad you're back.

Welcome back!
I've written nothing of value for the past 10 days. I'm on a break myself.

I don't know if I've written something extraordinary, but my recent post won Chris Wood's Nobel Prize for Awesomeness.

Glad you're back.

Sandy - I can't wait for it to come out either! I'm probably going to get one too.

Elizabeth - I did. There was a lot of work in there but now that it's over I'm feeling pretty good.

Heather - I agree. I knew nobody would stop by until I wrote again. That's why I said "In my imagination..." and that it "feels like people have abandoned me."

Dan - I promise I won't worry about your stats. But thanks for giving me permission.

Mooselet - You're right... I've heard enough about other people's heat waves! ;-) But I will stop by and see what happened to your car :-(

Drowsey - That's what I did. Now you have been "marked as read" even though I haven't read you. So sorry. Please don't take it personally ;-)

Windyridge - Too late... I've already started viaiting.

Doug - Do I need to be worried that you think I should dress up like a woman?

unfinished rambler - The CD is going great. It's due to be release on April 25. Don't worry... I'll make plenty of noise about it.

April - Thanks. These breaks are necessary sometimes, aren't they?

Prefers her fantasy life - A Nobel Prize for awesomeness?!! A higher honor I have not seen. Congratulations! ;-)

Dude, I'm here every day waiting for you to realize that you are addicted and can't abandon the blog. I was just starting to go into withdrawal. The only post I've written since you've been gone was one about actually getting a free lunch.

I'm always checkin ya in Reader, looking for that bold print that tells me you've written something new and exciting. Glad to see ya back!

Hi Jeff! Had a nice rest? Well get back to blogging then ;O)

If you want a laugh pop over!

Evelyn Wood? I googled her and it said she invented speed reading. Huh?

Anonymous said...

I just went back and read your blog. Now I get it, duh.

Hey, I just wanted to let you know how cool I think your blog is. I'm so happy to have discovered it.

Although, there is something very familiar about you, but I just can't put my finger on it.

Anyway, I'll be adding you to my blog reader. I have room on there after deleting some slacker from Minnesota 10 days ago.

BTW, please visit my blog ASAP to make a humorous comment about my teenage pimp photo.

Ed (zoesdad) said...

Really--45 and 4. I'd love those numbers!!

Michelle said...

IF I've written something extraordinary? IF? *snort* I'm insulted ;)

Jeff and Charli Lee said...

mom thumb - Ooh... free lunch! What's on the menu?

shieldmaiden - New yes. Exciting?... well that's questionable.

babs - I'll be there as soon as I can. I always need a laugh :-)

rick - Can't pull one over on you eh?

idaho dad - Nice try Phil. You can delete me but you can't make me go away.

ed - Yeah, but the 45 hits were wayward Google searches about things like urinary problems and "s-shaped" poop - so don't feel bad.

michelle - Of course that statement applied to everyone but you. I mean duh.

You should know you are unforgettable, Jeff... I've been busy screaming at CSS code these past two weeks and haven't been around to visit all my friends. Glad we are both back now!!!

Excuse me, do I know you? If you have been gone for ten days, you missed my four part evisceration of Dubya and my Battlestar Galactica/L-Word comparison

Welcome back Jeff! I left a comment last night that was full of great wit and wisdom - whatever. However the Blogger gremlins made it disappear, so this is all I got now.

At least it's less wordy. :)

Fancy Schmancy said...

While I did not abandon you or delete you from my blogger following list, I have it set up to only alert me when you've written something new. And I'm so far behind on everyone's post that I'm starting to think about just "marking it all as read"!

My stuff has been kind of meh. It is on sale though, so there's that.

I shall never remove you from my blogroll or reader. :-)

I feel your pain, though, as I've been offline a LOT more than I've been on since I moved.
