Good luck my friend... I wish you well

I’d like to take this time to say so long and good luck to a very dear and close personal friend of mine.

Our bass player Mike, from The Receders, performed his final gig with us last night in Battle Lake, MN.

Unfortunately, Mike needs to do what many people have to do these days... move because of their jobs. And for Mike, this means moving to Nashville.

After being with The Receders for over 12 years, including the last 8 with me - I can promise you that Mike will be sorely missed. His talents as a singer, song writer and rock solid bass player are a big reason our band sounds as good as we do.

And so Mike... I would just like to say thank you... for being a part of my life and for being such a good friend over the years. I wish you well and hope to see you soon.

As a related side note... last night was a total blast, and couldn't have been a better send off for Mike. The place was jam-packed with hundreds of people and the energy level was through the roof. Here's a shot of the dance floor I took from the stage around midnight or so.

I had to laugh though when I took a closer look at this picture. We sold a LOT of CDs at this gig, and apparently this woman didn't want to let hers out of her sight.

On the other hand... maybe she is the reason we sold so many CDs!

Is there a new trend with women storing things in their bras? We were at the county fair last weekend, and there were women walking around in tank tops with their cigarette packs stuffed in between their boobs!

How redneck can you get??

The Receders won't be the same without you Mike. Good luck in Nashville.

I am sure he thinks the same about you, as I never have known of anyone that did not like you. I think the highest compliment any parent can have is when people say how much they like one's children.

It's sad when a major part of our life changes because someone has to leave. I wish him well, and hope you find a good replacement.

Best of luck to Mike in Nashville, maybe he can influence the powers that be to sign The Receders to a MAJOR record contract? That'd be cool.

Looks like everyone had a good time!

Good luck to Mike!

And wow! That had to be comfortable having a CD sticking on her chest all night. Luckily she was probably drunk and didn't feel anything.

That wasn't to say that she had to be drunk to buy your CD.

Maybe I should just stop commenting.

Back from the wilderness, first thing I do is check your blog. Good luck on the new gig Mike, and also on yours, Jeff. I hope you get the lecond splinterview.

In response to Jacki's comment - I think you're on to something. Bras could be the next big thing in mancessories. I could wear a bra just to carry stuff! It would be so much better than a man purse or a fanny pack. This is even better than my fake beer gut storage system idea...

Hi,
Sounds like you had a great concert. Sorry about your friend, I hope he does well in Nashville.
I just wanted to let you know that your blog is NOT banned in China (but the pictures are).

Awww, that's so sad that you are losing the right thereness of such a good friend. I'm glad the show went well -- and here's hoping you find a good replacement for him soon! And next show? I think you need to put a plant with a cleavage CD....

Ah, too bad about Mike... looks like you all had a great time though; especially that woman with the size CD bra!

Where should I stuff my CD? Don't answer that...
