W.T.F. FRiDAY'S

I was going through the ad supplement of the newspaper my daughter delivers each week when something disturbing popped out at me in the T.G.I. Friday's ad.

Let's see if you can spot it.

Uh-huh. Apparently Creepy the Clown here is a little more than excited to have the kids stop by on Monday nights.

And Friday's is happy to have him there too. Just look at what they're saying about this magical night:

Make Dinner Time Fun! - Well, I suppose "Make Dinner Time Traumatic" wasn't as catchy

Bring the kids in to see the clown - Ya, I bet he'd like that

Face Painting & Balloon Animals - No, trouser snake is not an actual animal. And this is a family show so I won't even attempt to comment on the face painting.

But seriously... These people need to hire more college freshmen in their marketing department because I guarantee no 18 year old guy would have missed this.*

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm still going to stop by and use my b.o.g.o. appetizer coupon. But when I do I'm going to make damn sure I can see BOTH of this clown's hands at the same time!

*if you
still haven't figured out what all the hullabaloo is about by now (mom), click here.

I think even kids who aren't already afraid of clowns would be pushed over the edge by that creepy guy.

I'm not a big fan of clowns as it is, especially if one is going to have it all out in the open like that.

The BOGO sounds good though. Do you have to buy a meal as well?

I wonder how many sets of eyes that went through before the ad got approval? I'm thinking not enough....

So. We have a chain restaurant that is typically already loud, filled with children and the parents of children looking for a free meal for said children. And clowns. Penile balloon sculptures notwithstanding I'd rather build a campfire on the side of a two lane and roast whatever I scraped off the yellow line than eat there.

Are you serious??!! They now serve hot dogs at Friday's?

That looks like advertising I'd do just to see if people are paying attention.

Kids Nights with $2 Pints and $3 Captains?

mom thumb - Ya... and how about that creepy smirk on his face. Yikes!

roger - No, a straight up good old fashioned bogo... with a side of clown sauce.

sandy - Not enough, that's for sure. Anyone know if this is just a local screw up or did this make the national scene?

shieldmaiden96 - Mmmm, sounds tasty. You should open your own chain of Roadkill Restaurants!

ed - Yes, but only on Mondays.

sornie - Good plan, as long as it didn't make the newspaper!

anon - Sure, it's smart to teach your children the value of a good deal.

wow, that's terrible. I haven't seen anything like that in our TGIF ads. I'll be sure to notice, though. disgusting

You should send it into David Letterman. Does he still do that?

hahahahaha ...

Looks like a fun place :)

Hard economic times call for hard measures.

Oh, it's totally intentional. Corporate sent down the word that TGIF has to do a kids eat free. NO ONE wants that, so the advertising people put a not-so-subliminal "clown part" in the coupon to discourage families from coming in.

I've worked in restaurants. I know how this works. If the kids STILL come in, demanding to eat for free? They bring out the real clown. Balloon and all.

That is seriously disturbing. I can't believe that no one in the marketing department caught such a think.

Nothing says good time family fun like clown porn.

Hahaaha ha! That is just the kind of thing I would miss when taking a photo!

I painted an abstract and was told I had put an animal mounting another in it. Once it was pointed out to me, it was all I could see. It was well done too! I painted over it ;)

Hahaha! Your word verification is 'handi' Do you fix your word verification to suit your post?

I am still trying to figure out if I really needed ALL that info.

OMG... yes, they definitely need to hire teen males to catch these things.

And no, I probably WOULDN'T have spotted it on my own. So I guess I'll never get a photo editor job anytime soon.

Ha! Babs!! That is SO something I would unintentionally do too!

deborah - Yes, please keep an eye out for that would you. As consumers, we need to be vigilant against clown porn.

elizabeth - I think he has a routine about Small Town News. I know Leno had a bit about Headlines but I don't know if his new show will do that or not. But yeah, this would fit right in for sure.

drowsey - Hmmm, maybe they should hire this guy for ladies' night instead.

prefers her fantasy life - Ah... porn puns. Nice.

jd - Thanks for the inside scoop. I'm calling Mike Wallace!

jacki - That's what I'm here for. This story has been cracked wide open!

rick - Too bad you're too old for kid's night.

babs - Animal mounting art is very "Animal Planet." You should have claimed it was intentional and then raised your price. ;-)

bill - Of course you didn't, but that's what so fun about this place now isn't it?

maureen - Exactly. You don't stand a chance understanding college guy humor.

Ummm wow. See this is pretty special. I think that I would go for the BOGO but ummm, the wee ones would be staying at home!

Further evidence that all clowns are evil and must be destroyed. Think of the children!!
