In this case size DOES matter

Typical conversations while watching TV in our bedroom:

Me: What did that detective just find?

Charli: I can't tell.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *

Me: Oh, I didn't know Andy Rooney was on Letterman tonight.

Charli: He's not, that's one of Jack Hanna's orangutans

*   *   *   *   *   *   *

Charli: What's that Russian guy saying?

Me: I don't know... I can't read the subtitles.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *

Me: Wait, don't turn it yet, I want to see the credits to find out who that actor was.

Charli: Bwahahahaha! Good one!

*   *   *   *   *   *   *

Charli: Crap... they just showed the kidnapper's ransom note.

Me: I know, I didn't even bother.

These are the conversations of people who have been using a portable TV/VCR with a 9 1/2" screen (the kind you're supposed to use in your car) in their bedroom for the last 10 years.

what... it's only 11 feet away

I know, we're dumb for putting up with this blah blah blah, but we don't have any additional space in our bedroom for a larger one, and we do have a "normal" TV set just outside that door for watching shows in their proper resolution. But we're not big TV people in the first place so it's really not that important to us.

And besides, there is a plus side... we never have to see David Caruso's pasty white face up close!

Sounds like foreplay to me.

That's why I got you binoculars for your birthday.

Ever thought of mounting one to the wall? Doesn't take up a lot of space and...

You can get one of those projection TVs and have the player mounted to the ceiling and you can use a wall, or a sheet for a screen...

You can get rid of that distraction and spend some quality time with your lovely bride. Or read a book. :)

It is color, right? ;)

Actually when I was a kid, we had a TV just like that minus the VCRs, and it was black and white. Didn't have color TV until I was in college, I think. Maybe it's why to this day, I love black and white movies...

...agree with you about David Caruso too.

Ahhh... I don't feel so bad about my 13" tv from high school in my bedroom now. :)

babs - You should see how hard it is to watch the stamp collecting channel!

relationship george - You got me! My attempt at being cryptic was unveiled.

rick - Hey good idea! And I can use them to watch the neighbors during the commercials. At least until the cops show up.

roger - You're such an idea guy. We actually did discuss putting a flat screen on that door since we don't use it (we have another entrance) but we refuse to buy something new until this one poops out.

unfinished rambler - Oh not us. We were one of the first in our neighborhood to have color. We even had the neighbors over to watch it! But I too like the b/w movies, although I haven't seen one in forever. Office Space isn't in b/w is it?

heather - Want one?

michelle - Ya, that would be a significant upgrade for me.

I'm going to argue that if you're not big tv people (a phrase I can parse out at least three different ways), then you don't need a tv in the bedroom at all.

How you like dat one?

Hey, you fixed "Caruso's" since I first read this post!

Anyhoo, that teeny tiny tv is adorable. Why don't you just bring it into the bed with you and prop it up on your laps?

I hardly ever watch TV on TV anymore. It's all laptop, baby.

You should have titled it, "In the bedroom, size DOES matter" Who knows how many new readers you would get with that tag!!

As Dr. Phil says, you shouldn't have a TV in the bedroom...there are better things to do there!! So sorry, no sympathy from me!

Don't feel bad...we only have one TV in our house and it is the same 27" one I bought back in 2002. We just don't watch a lot of TV.
