Think about it, that person wanted to make a statement about the war but if he had wanted to hurt people he would have done it at 9am and not 4am when no one was really around. Yes, someone could have gotten hurt and it's a bad crime but the losers in my town who drive drunk are taking a bigger risk with peoples lives than this guy was. NYC is an awesome place to visit and I felt VERY safe there the whole time I was there. NYC is an amazing city with so much culture, diversity,<BR/>high paced action and beauty. We crammed in as much as we could in the day that we were there, we grabbed a sightseeing tour that we really enjoyed, it got us around town, explained a lot of what we were seeing but we could get on and off the bus anytime we wanted so we stopped at all the big attractions - Empire State Building (and yes, we went to the top - awesome), China Town, Little Italy, Union Square, Ground Zero (very sobering) we got out and enjoyed or at least experienced each of these areas and then would hop back on the bus and go to the next section. We arrived at Central Park as it was getting dark and our tour guide didn't want us to get off as he was afraid that we would miss the last bus of the day which was expected to come by in 45 mins - basically he begged so badly that we stayed on the bus. The next stop was Times Square. We arrived at Times Square as it became completely dark and it blew our socks off. Both of us sat at the top of our glass-topped double decker bus with our mouths WIDE open. It was amazing!! We hopped off the bus and promised to take the subway or taxi back to the hotel as we knew we would stay MUCH longer than 45 mins. We walked around and shopped in the shops and were blown away by all the people, the lights and the action - so fun. We then chose Hard Rock to eat at and loved it we went back out and soaked in more Times Square. We decided to take the Subway back as the Times Square Metro Station is way cool with great artist belting out tunes in every corner. We arrived back at the hotel too late to catch a Broadway Show but completely impressed with all we had done. I spent the following day taking the tour bus in a more leisurely fashion since Austin was at his conference. I only exited when it was at a spot that I truly enjoyed. I redid Times Square to enjoy that day time feel and marveled at the bomb site and how close we had been just hours earlier. It was not a huge bomb nor did it do a lot of damage but everyone who was anyone was out there reporting it on the news. That was interesting. I spent some time shopping that I didn't do the day before with Austin like Filene's Basement and Macy's and such. Didn't buy anything because we were not doing luggage but it was sure fun to look. Then after Austin got off from his conference we took the subway to the Staten Island Station and walked around Battery Park - no time to take the Ferry but we did ponder her beauty and significance from afar. Hopped on the subway back, grabbed some delicious food from a Pizzaria and meet up with our Ground Transportation back to JFK- whirl wind of fun! Thanks for all the great ideas, can't wait to go back and experience things at a different level and get the chance to check out some museums and catch a Broadway play and get closer to Ms. Liberty.
